Alexa Gomez, M.S., LMFT-A
Marriage and Family Therapist
Alexa Gomez, M.S., LMFT-A is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in the Houston area. She holds a Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University focusing on couples, family, and individual psychotherapy. Alexa works primarily with children and young adults who are dealing with depression, anxiety, and life transitions. She has worked primarily with school-aged children from elementary through high school. Andrea believes clients are experts on their own lives and works with them to help access their strengths, work through their struggles, and develop skills that can help improve their life and mental well-being.
Amy Sanseverino, LMFT, LPC
Marriage and Family Therapist
Amy Sanseverino is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She is passionate about helping people feel better and find their voice. Over the years, Amy has worked in various settings such as schools, group homes, and a private practice. She has assisted individuals and families work through a variety of emotions and challenging life situations, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, anger, interpersonal struggles, relationship conflicts and substance abuse. Amy believes that everyone has a unique story; she loves to listen, explore their feelings, strengthen their daily coping skills, and help each day feel more hopeful.
Brittney Brooks, B.S., M.S., LMFT-A, LPC-A
Associate Therapist
Brittney Brooks holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Psychology. Her goals are to expand her collaborative stance as a therapist through her work at HGI Counseling and to be a resource of family systems, especially in impoverished areas.
Carmen Simon, LMFT-A
Therapist
Carmen Simon, LMFT-A believes that therapy is a lifelong journey of personal growth. As a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family therapist (LMFT-A), she continually grows with every client and colleague that she encounters. Her career began in California in 2007, where she worked as a paraprofessional residential counselor with adolescents. Since then, she has graduated with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University of California in the San Francisco Bay Area (2019). Joining the counseling team at HGI Counseling, is her first clinical role in the Greater Houston area. When Carmen worked in California, she specialized in working with diverse communities, including unhoused adults, lower-income children and families, dually diagnosed clients, and the LGBTQIA community.
Ellen Van Wart, LPC-A
Licensed Associate Therapist
Ellen Van Wart is an associate therapist and has 15 years of experience working with children and their parents in a school setting. As a full supporter of the collaborative-dialogic approach to therapy, she is happy to be working at HGI Counseling. When working with clients, she enters every conversation with curiosity, respect, and an open mind.
Steven Loredo, LMFT-A
Licensed Associate Therapist
Steven is a native Houstonian with BA in Psychology from Texas State University. Driven by his faith and past, Steven’s passion is helping men and male adolescents with their mental health. When he isn’t at school or working, he enjoys watching Marvel or anime, watching the Astros with his dad, and training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Michael Pontello, M.A., LMFT-Supervisor
Supervisor
Michael Pontello, M.A., LMFT-Supervisor began her training and professional experience with HGI as an intern. Through the years she has been invited into a variety of communities through the numerous clinical programs HGI Counseling has to offer. The bulk of her therapeutic experiences have involved work in public schools though she has also enjoyed working with many clients through HGI Counseling’s open community program. While involved in these programs she has worked with HGI Counseling’s new learners at various stages of their careers as a co-therapist, reflecting team member, and faculty supervisor. Michael has been amazed at the HGI community and journeys that each person has gone on as they achieve their goals.
