Volunteer

Because HGI Counseling Center is a not-for-profit organization, volunteers are vital to our success.

HGI has been using volunteers to support our various programs for many years. Our volunteers are very diverse and consist of individuals from different cultures, age groups, educational and professional backgrounds. This diversity helps enrich the Institute’s capabilities.

At the end of 2008, HGI expanded its volunteer initiative into daily operations. More recently, HGI utilized volunteer consultants from the Executive Service Corps of Houston (ESCH) to facilitate strategic plan processes. We also received a grant from ESCH to receive assistance with updating the website and database. This project team consisted of four students from the University of Houston and a consultant from ESCH. HGI has also begun expanding its scope of volunteers, both in terms of skill level and experience, by collaborating with agencies such as the Small Business Administration/SCORE to obtain pro bono business development services. Such pro bono services allow us to more readily develop short- and long-term plans for our counseling services.

Become a Volunteer

HGI’s volunteer program is open to individuals and groups. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. We have opportunities available for everyone! All volunteers must fill out an application and meet with our volunteer coordinator to review interests, skills, and availability. Background checks are also required for all volunteers. We thank you in advance for sharing your time and talents with our organization.

Download, print, and complete our Volunteer Application, which can be emailed, faxed, mailed or delivered to our office.

After your application is received, our volunteer coordinator will contact you to schedule a meeting.
